Dear EPA members and friends,
I am very glad to send you this first newsletter of 2020. I hope you have started the year full of energy to raise the voice of parents in your countries. We must work continuously for the recognition of their central place as the primary responsible of the education of their children.
In November 2019, we held our successful Vienna GA & Conference with the topic “Parenting for a healthy life”. Many thanks to Arja and all her team for those awesome and inspiring days in Vienna.
In the next days you will receive from the EPA office the membership form together with the 2020 invoice. I kindly ask you to fill out the form and return it to the office at your earliest convenience.
As you may know, changes to the articles of our statutes were adopted on our last GA in Vienna. The Board has checked the changes with the Belgian law and they are now ready to be approved. Because EPA is registered in Belgium, we are subject to the Belgian law, which states that a notary has to be present at the adoption of amendments to the statutes, which ultimately endorses the change. So, I ask you to save the date of the Special General Assembly to be held in Brussels on March 16th at 14:00h CET. In order to book the hotel, I can inform you that the venue of the conference will be: Social Platform Offices, Square de Meeûs 18, 1050Brussels.
In the next days you will receive the invitation to the Special GA, the amended statutes and the proxy form.
We are waiting for the confirmation of the IntegratED Stakeholders Meeting that most likely will be held on March 17th in Brussels. As you know, EPA is one of the partners of this project. If you are also interested in participating in this meeting, please wait for its confirmation before booking the plane tickets and the accomodation for the Special GA. As soon as we receive the confirmation from the coordinator, we will let you know.
In the scope of the Topic of the Year “Parenting in the Digital Age”, we are working together with our local member PUC (Parents Union of Chania) and the Sirius Network in the preparation of the
GA & Conference in Chania (Greece). Please, save the date for this event to be held on April 26-28. On Sunday 26th we will celebrate the Members’ Workshops and the General Assembly. On Monday 27th we will have the Joint Conference and on Tuesday 28th morning we will visit some schools in Chania. In the next few weeks, you will receive the complete information of this event.
To end this newsletter, I would like to inform you that on February 15-16 we will have in Lyon the first Board Meeting of 2020. Therefore, if you have any suggestion or request to be discussed during this meeting, I kindly ask you to send it to president@euparents.eu
After the Board Meeting, an online survey will be sent to all the members to receive a first feedback in order to start working together towards the definition of the 5-year EPA Strategic Framework. In addition to this, during the Chania GA & Conference we have scheduled a workshop focused on this key topic.
