The European Parents’ Association (EPA) is the united voice of over 150 million parents across Europe. We bring together national and regional parents’ associations and networks, ensuring parents have a powerful role in shaping policies and decisions that affect their children at the European level.  Parents have the greatest impact on their children, and thus our future citizens; supporting parents lays the best foundation for a thriving society.

Since its creation in Milan (Italy) in 1985, EPA has represented the diverse needs and interests of parents throughout Europe, championing parental involvement in education, recognizing parents as primary educators, and advocating for strong parent-teacher partnerships. We focus on a holistic approach to education, recognizing that a child’s development extends beyond academics to encompass their social, emotional, and overall well-being.

Today, EPA contributes to EU policy-making through its expertise and extensive network, including its participation in numerous topical EU-funded projects. As a strong partner to the European institutions, we contribute valuable expertise on vital topics such as education, mental health, non-formal learning, parents’ education, inclusion, minorities, media literacy, digital readiness, cyberbullying and many more.

EPA’s commitment to families and children is reflected in our active engagement with influential organizations, including the Lifelong Learning Platform, Make Mothers Matter, the Alliance for Childhood, the European Economic and Social Committee Liaison Group for Civil Society Organisations, the Social Platform, and the Conference of International Non-Governmental Organisations (INGOs) of the Council of Europe. Through these partnerships, we address issues critical to families, from education and lifelong learning to children’s rights and social inclusion. The EPA also nurtures strong connections with other NGOs sharing our commitment to raising the voices of children and families.

EPA is committed to a thriving and resilient Europe that prioritizes the holistic development and well-being of its citizens, fostering individuals who are stable, resilient, empathetic, motivated, creative, and critical thinkers. This vision extends beyond marketable skills; it aims to cultivate engaged and empowered citizens who contribute meaningfully to a just, equitable, and sustainable society. A thriving European Union requires a socially and emotionally well-rounded citizenry. When individuals are free from survival mode, they can unleash their potential, pursue their passions, and contribute positively to their communities, the economy, and the environment. Ultimately, EPA is dedicated to building a more resilient, just, and inclusive Europe where all children can unfold their unique potential.
