Eurofound meeting in Brussels
The concept of parent participation is an essential quality in all parenting issues.
Eurofound had invited EPA-president Johannes Theiner to join the reflection on a research survey about “Parenting Support and Education in Europe”. This study had been ordered on behalf of the European Commission to gain an overview on different systems, strategies and projects implemented in the member states.
One of the main essences on these investigation was the diversity of approaches ranging from formalised services run by national or regional governments to civil society and volunteer based services and self help networks. As a key finding the authors state that “.. it is more the How than the What that determines success.”
This finding was underpinned by all experts gathered together at the Eurofund meeting.
On behaf of EPA a brief presentation introduced the organisation and some “claims” realted to the topic of the meeting. Their general focus is the broader view on the tasks of parenting going beyond child care in early ages and the concept of participation as essential quality in all parenting issues.
