I was born in Bilbao (Spain) in 1970 and have lived there ever since. I am married to Maria Victoria and we have five children. They are the reason why I am very interested in parental involvement and very active in parents’ associations. I am Full Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU). I love teaching Mechanical Engineering and interacting with my students at the University (http://www.ehu.eus/compmech/victor-petuya/). Since 2006 I have been a member of the Board of Directors of my school’s Parents’ Association and since 2008 I have been the President of FAPAE/EIGEF (Federation of Parents’ Associations of the Basque Country). In November 2019 I was elected President of the EPA. The experience of being EPA President has been one of the most enriching of my life, allowing me to meet fantastic people who selflessly dedicate their time to helping and networking with other parents solely for the benefit of their children, their schools and their educational systems.
